Waynesville Christian School and Home Grown Kids is a non-profit organization designed to prepare preschool children for kindergarten by offering a private, 2 day, 3 day pre-k, and 5 day pre-k program. Preschool hours are from 9:00-12:00.   WCS also offers a 3 full day kindergarten program M-W-F from 9:00-3:30. We offer a safe, healthy environment for school age children to come before and after school.  We are doing our best to keep costs low so that parents can afford private school tuition and child care, and be confident that their children are being instructed, nurtured and guided towards Christian values.

***Enrollment for the 2017-2018 school year begins on March 1, 2016.  To enroll, you must fill out an enrollment form along with a $100.00 non-refundable enrollment fee and book fee. The 2 day, 3 day, and 5 day preschool classes are now full, but you may want to have your child placed on our waiting list in case a spot becomes available or if afternoon classes are added.  We will offer a 3 full day kindergarten class on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays beginning in the fall of 2017.***

We offer outdoor play, gym time, snack, planned activities, games, centers and academic time for the preschool students. Time is set aside each day for school age students wishing to finish homework before going home.

Administrative hours during the school year are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday-Friday, unless an appointment has been made for a pre-arranged visit.  During the school year teachers are available Monday-Friday from 6:30 AM-6:00PM.

                                                               Mission Statement

The purpose of Waynesville Christian School is to provide a sound academic education integrated with the Christian view of God and the world based on the authoritative and inerrant Word of God. This educational program is designed for children whose parents are committed to a personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible is specific in stating the principles that underlie Christian education. “For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth…and He is before all things, and by Him all things consist” (Colossians 1:16, 17).
“All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made” (John 1:13).

Functioning as an extension of the Christian home, the school supports parents who seek to obey the biblical instruction that gives them
ultimate responsibility for the education of their children (Deuteronomy 6:7, 8). Because the Christian approach to learning differs significantly from the secular approach, the school offers a curriculum rooted in a God-centered philosophy to develop students to be devoted Followers of Christ. This view holds that God’s truth is the standard for all truth. The curriculum, taught by a qualified Christian faculty, allows parents to provide their children with academic instruction consistent with the Christ-centered teaching received at home and at church.

Philosophy of Education

The philosophy of Waynesville Christian School is based on a God-centered view that all truth is God’s truth, and that the Bible is the inspired and the only infallible, authoritative Word of God that contains this truth. God created all things and sustains all things. Therefore, the universe and humanity are dynamically related to God and have the purpose of glorifying Him.   In Romans 3:23 it says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Humans are sinners, so they cannot glorify God except by choosing God’s free gift of salvation through His Son Jesus Christ. “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6). One must commit his or her life the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Our aim socially is to provide a Christian perspective on life and the world from which will come a balanced personality and proper understanding and acceptance of one’s role in life, at home, at work, at play, and at worship—all grounded in the Christian concept of love.

This philosophy channels our energies to promoting high academic standards while helping students to achieve skills in creative and critical thinking, using the best integrated curriculum materials available. The objective of our instructional program is to enable students to pursue the post secondary education of their choosing, whether in college, university, or vocational training.

Our responsibility for the student encompasses the spiritual, intellectual, physical, social, and emotional areas. These are inseparable, and through them all runs the thread of the spiritual. Therefore, it must be our aim to shun the tendency to teach the Bible compartmentally or on the intellectual level alone—the spiritual thread must be woven throughout the total curriculum.

It is apparent, then, that the types of activities we integrate or permit in the classroom or school program, be in line with our basic philosophy. The spiritual must permeate all areas—or else we become textbook oriented rather than student centered.

This philosophy dictates that we cooperate closely with parents in every phase of the student’s development, always offering assistance in understanding the purposes of the Christian school.
